Floyd Mayweather Sr. on Manny Pacquiao’s refusal of Olympic-style drug testing: ‘I was right’

Wednesday 23 December 2009 @ 6:03 pm

The proposed March 13 fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao is “in jeopardy” after Pacquiao has refused to submit himself to Olypmic-style random drug testing before the fight.

The Filipino has been the subject of speculation about whether he has used performance-enhancing drugs since Floyd Mayweather Sr. first broached the issue to The Press in September.

Why Floyd will Get Knocked Out by Pacquiao

Tuesday 22 December 2009 @ 5:46 pm

Floyd’s need for defense is where his fatal flaw will come in, and I’m sure of this 100 percent. When the Pacman comes in with his two-fisted attacks, the instinctive reaction of Floyd will always be to shell-defend and pop-punch — this is the so-called Mayweather-family style.

Pacquiao gave the fans what the wanted in 2009

Tuesday 22 December 2009 @ 5:44 pm

For 2009, there is only one fighter I could nominate – living legend Manny Pacquiao.

As the Filipino climbed into the welterweight class this year, he targeted no patsies.  In dismantling Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto, he notched victories against to of the best fighters in the world.

Pacquiao foolish not to defer politricks for Mayweather

Tuesday 22 December 2009 @ 5:35 pm

But someone close enough and persuasive enough needs to tell Pacquiao that his preoccupation with a political race may cost him bigtime as he prepares for the fight of his life against Floyd Mayweather Jr. March 13 in Las Vegas.

Can Manny catch Floyd?

Monday 21 December 2009 @ 12:05 am

When Manny Pacquiao faces Floyd Mayweather Jr. for their superfight, whether it be on March 13 or on a later date, the question fight fans will be asking is how Pacquiao will catch Floyd. Not only are these two fighters perhaps the two best boxers of this era, they also have contrasting fighting styles. Both are quick, explosive and very well-conditioned. It’s alsmot impossible to fight two other fighters who trains as hard as these two. They however use their tools in the ring differently.

Why Mayweather’s O will go

Thursday 17 December 2009 @ 3:58 pm

As they say between two undefeated teams clashing against one another, “Someone’s 0 must go.”  Manny Pacquiao is just what the doctor ordered to erase the zero from Mayweather’s record.  Say what you will be about Floyd Mayweather though, but the man can fight.  Yes, yes I know my Pacquiao readers hate to admit it, but it’s true. People may not like the way in which Mayweather fights, but he defines the sweet science of, ‘hit and not get hit’.

Mayweather, Jr. vs. Pacquiao: An early look at strategy

Thursday 17 December 2009 @ 3:57 pm

Some say that for Floyd Mayweather, Jr. to win, he has to turn “The Fight” with Manny Pacquiao into a back-peddling, counter -punching 12 – round snoorefest.

I have to disagree with this scenario.

Thankfully, Freddy Roach knows better to, but isn’t talking.

If you don’t think Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is a precision puncher with one punch knockout power, you are sadly mistaken. You have to have followed his entire career and not the caricature of him to know the truth and not put bad information out there to the public.

2009 Boing Knockout of the Year: Manny Pacquiao – Ricky Hatton

Thursday 17 December 2009 @ 3:54 pm

Boxing fans are quick with the hyperbole. It’s understandable. It’s a dynamic sport. Sometimes when we watch someone gets knocked out dramatically, violently, it’s so profound an experience you’d swear it’s the best KO you’ve ever seen. But moments later we come to our senses, or if we don’t, a veteran boxing writer puts things in appropriate perspective the next day, and all the shouting with exclamation points is confined to the farthest corners of boxing message boards.

Lennox Lewis: Only Pacquiao or Mosley can trouble Mayweather

Monday 14 December 2009 @ 5:01 pm

CHICAGO–Former world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis told me late Saturday night that he thinks that Manny Pacquiao can beat undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Lewis, working as a fight analyst for HBO on the Juan Diaz-Paulie Malignaggi main event at the University of Illinois, Chicago, made it sound as though he expects Money May to remain undefeated when the two little titans tangle, hopefully on March 13.
